During undergraduate study at both The University of Wisconsin – Madison, under the tutelage of the Bolivian performer Javier Calderon, as well as at Montana State University – Billings, studying with Elizabeth Adcock, Bill cultivated his interest in baroque music. Bill was particular interested in the works of J.S. Bach including the lute suites and various other solo transcriptions. Additionally, Bill was interested in Romantic composers such are Dionisio Aguado and Agustin Barrios Manore, and modern composers like Heitor Villa-lobos, Leo Brouwer and Nikita Koshkin.
Other non-classical influences include Johnny Cash, Conner Oberst, Emmylou Harris, Radiohead, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Wes Montgomery, Charles Mingus, Pavement, Bob Dylan, Nikko Case, Charlie Parker, Charlie Parr, Duke Ellington, Elvis Costello, Nirvana, Django Reinhardt, Bob Marley and Muddy Waters.
Recently Bill and his wife, Katie, relocated to Madison, WI where Bill is the Music Director at Norway Grove Memorial Lutheran Church. Bill also teaches private guitar lessons via online video and in person lessons at his home studio located at 3129 Thorp St, Madison, WI.
